Awkward and Awesome: 2012 style.

Awkward:

Coming out of savasana and having YogaMan's foot in my face. Totally awkward. Especially since I really hate feet. Even patchouli scented ones.

Going to pick up some stuff from a woman through freecycle and the house was full of dogs, cats, ferrets, strange plants, fish tanks, cigarette smoke, and the giant flat screen tv was set to LMN. Oh, the 'daughter' who answered the door was dressed in breast cancer awareness pajamas with a boot on one foot and a cigarette in one hand. The 'husband' type person was mullet-man with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth the entire time he was around. There were bowls of cat food on every level of the porch and cats climbing all over the property. Then the woman says to me 'I discovered that 5 year olds and poof chairs don't mix'. I still don't understand that statement. Oh well.

Realizing that I've listened to Mr. Big sing 'Wild World' over 20 times in one day.

My bff saying 'you really are bitter' and realizing how right she is and that I don't want to be that person. I have to un-bitter myself ASAP.

Check out my other blog Crafty Girl Squared on Monday for info about this project!
Awesome:

Yoga practice with the modifications I worked on with Stela.

Starting and finishing 3 sewing projects in one day.

Only having to put on jeans to go to the post office and the pharmacy.

My dog is legitimately gaining weight. I can see it. We might get up to 60lbs soon. Seeing as he's supposed to weigh 70-75, that's great!

Tomorrow is Friday.

Watching Murder, She Wrote all day.

Having a friend who will tell me the truth even when it hurts.

On the tenth day of Christmas...

[source]

Today I'm going to share with you 10 of my favorite Christmas movies! This year I got Disney's A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey playing Scrooge. It was pretty good. A little on the dark side so I don't suggest it for small children, but all in all it was a decent portrayal of the book. I will always love the Muppets the most, but I'm not disappointed in the Jim Carrey version either.

Each image is linked to the Amazon page so you can get more info or purchase it!

Here you go:

I watch The Muppet Christmas Carol EVERY year. I actually watch Love Actually and The Holiday all year 'round because I love them so much. :)

I know that Sleepless in Seattle isn't really a Christmas movie, but I included it because I watch it at Christmas as there is Christmas/New Year in the movie.

What are some of your favorites?

On the ninth day of Christmas...

[source]
On this ninth day of Christmas, I'll share 9 of my favorite Christmas albums with you. Growing up in a musical household, there were always an abundance of choices for music around depending on who you were with. We always joke that my dad can tell you anything about classical composers and their works, but can't remember more than three things at the grocery store. But really, I can't remember more than three things at the grocery store either!

If you click on the images above, it will take you to the Amazon page for each album. I love all kinds of music, as evidenced by my choices. All of these albums are absolutely incredible (well, NKOTB and Hanson aren't really incredible, they're more nostalgic than anything...) and a part of my Christmastime repertoire.

I hope you all are having a great week!

On the eighth day of Christmas...

Eight of my favorite handmade projects:

Newest creation: owl slippers!! I found this pattern on Ravelry and I absolutely love it! I only had to rip out one row because I screwed it up. I made one pair for Brandi (the pink ones) and one for myself (the teal ones). I hate the yarn that it calls for (Caron Simply Soft) because it pulls apart so easily on the hook, but I powered through and these are so awesome!! I can't wait to show her tonight - she has no idea that these are her surprise. :)

This is a fingerless glove that I made for a friend. I made her a cowl last year for Christmas and she loved it so much that she requested a hat and mitts. I had made her mitts before but she keeps those at her desk so she wanted matching accessories. The cloche at the bottom of this post is the matching hat I made for her. :)

JJ and I went to All Fired Up and painted ornaments - we had so much fun! I hope they do it again next year. :)

This is The Jen Hat. This particular hat is destined for my friend's head, but you can buy your very own in our shop. With this hat comes a donation to the Jennifer Merendino Memorial Foundation to aid cancer patients. Each purchase will result in $15 donation to the fund. Not only are you getting a handmade item, but you're getting the opportunity to share a monetary gift that will help those who are in pain and in the most need. This hat is wearable by men or women. It's got a bit of the 'hipster slouch' going on so it's great for those of us with pony tails or teens. It's made with acrylic/wool blend yarn and is super warm.

This is a koala hat I made for my friend in Germany. I have to get that package sent out to her - it's been so nuts around here. I am pretty excited about this hat - it's so cute!! And warm!

This is the hugs and kisses headwrap from Micah Makes. I got to test the pattern and then went ahead and made a million for friends and family. I even made one for our dog groomer!!

My amazing dining room table. (You can see more about that here.)

Cloche hat I made for my friend to match her cowl and fingerless mitts. :)

So, there you go. Happy New Year, everyone!!
